It was an honour to stop by and deliver one of my campaign fliers and a handmade campaign button to Indigenous Elder Wilamina McGrimmond (@willow_river). I am incredibly grateful for her encouragement and support.

Elder Wilamina, a member of the Tla’azt’en Nation, has spent decades serving the @CityofHamilton community through education, advocacy, and cultural leadership. She has been a tireless voice for Indigenous rights, an advocate for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, an organizer of the Spirit Bear Drummers, and has shared Indigenous teachings through drumming, sewing, and cultural workshops that have touched countless lives throughout our city. She has also contributed to major reconciliation and Indigenous engagement initiatives in Hamilton and has been recognized for her lifelong service to our community.

As Mayor, I believe Hamilton is strongest when we listen to the wisdom of our Elders, honour the original stewards of this land, and work together in a spirit of respect, reconciliation, and service. I am deeply thankful to Elder Wilamina for her kindness, her example, and her faith in our campaign.
