Today I had the pleasure of stopping by Hamilton Craft Studios to drop off a campaign button and flyer for owner Dayna Gedney.
What Dayna has built is about so much more than crafting. She’s created a space where people can gather, learn, create, learn valuable skills, and build meaningful connections with one another. In a city where so many communities have been starved of resources and investment, spaces like Hamilton Craft Studios remind us that real change often starts at the grassroots.
Supporting women-led entrepreneurial social enterprises isn’t just about supporting one business. It’s about investing in stronger, healthier communities. When we empower people who are creating inclusive spaces, fostering creativity, and bringing neighbours together, everyone benefits. That’s how we build resilience. That’s how we build belonging.
As Mayor, I want City Hall to recognize and champion the people who are already doing the hard work of strengthening our communities. We need to make it easier for local entrepreneurs, artists, and community builders to thrive, because when they succeed, Hamilton succeeds.
