Today, I was humbled to wake up and see my name mentioned in a letter to the editor in The Hamilton Spectator
Aha Blume instead of shuffling vulnerable people out of our downtown, we should be electing leaders who are willing to find real solutions, not simply move people out of sight.
That is exactly why I’m running to become Mayor of the City of Hamilton.
For too long, we’ve treated poverty, homelessness, addiction, and mental health as problems to relocate instead of challenges to solve. Moving services farther away from the people who rely on them doesn’t make our city safer, healthier, or stronger. It just makes life harder for people who are already struggling.
I believe Hamilton can have a vibrant, safe downtown while also ensuring that our most vulnerable neighbours are treated with dignity. Those goals are not in conflict. They go hand-in-hand. When we invest in housing, treatment, outreach, public safety, and support services, everyone benefits: residents, businesses, workers, and visitors alike.
