One of the highlights of my day was attending the BBQ celebrating the successful unionization of the First Student transportation professionals with the members of the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 107.
A huge thank you to my friend, Fellow Worker Alfie for the invitation – and for gifting me my new ATU Local 107 shirt! I’ll wear it with pride. ❤️
It was a pleasure meeting so many dedicated school bus drivers and speaking with workers about my campaign, their experiences, and the future they want for Hamilton. These conversations remind me why I’m running: because working people deserve a Mayor who listens.
I’ve always been proudly pro-union because unions have helped build safer workplaces, stronger communities, and a more secure middle class. When workers have a voice, everyone benefits.
Congratulations to all of the First Student workers on this important milestone. Organizing takes courage, solidarity, and determination. Wishing you every success as you begin this new chapter with ATU Local 107. Congratulations as well to the leadership of Local 107, including former President Eric Tuck, current President Paolo Testaguzza, First Student Organizer Eric, and the Executive Board, for supporting workers through this process.
Hamilton was built by working people. As Mayor, I’ll continue advocating for fair wages, safe working conditions, collective bargaining, and policies that put workers and their families first.
Solidarity always. ✊❤️
