This week I attended the (by registration only) meeting CityHousing Hamilton (@cityofhamilton) convened after the shooting and death of 19-year-old Talon Williams-Parkin.

Sean Botham was unable to offer any timeline whatsoever of future tasks.

Carey Lavigne admitted she is not trained to conduct Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design safety audits like a @hamiltonpoliceontario officer is trained.

When I asked why CityHousing Hamilton is not involving the police service to conduct these CPTED safety audits, no real answer was given.

When tenants expressed their traumas about having guns pulled on them by unauthorized residents, their trauma was not taken seriously by CityHousing Hamilton staff. It was really heartbreaking to see so many seniors suffering.

When I asked why the building I live in, which is not downtown like the building where the shooting happened is, has better cameras and lighting than their building, no adequate answer was given.

It took a murder for CityHousing Hamilton to take (inadequate) action. Tenants are terrified. This is why I am running for Mayor of Hamilton.

This city must do better. They are currently selling residents lies and propaganda. We can improve the @cityofhamilton public housing if we all raise our voices together!
