A Note of Appreciation for Brenda Hind – July 28, 2026

Today I had the privilege of canvassing at First Place, a CityHousing Hamilton seniors’ building which is also used by St. Joseph’s Healthcare as transitional housing, and listening directly to the people who call it home.

A very special thank you to Brenda Hind @Hind.Brenda, who helped me throughout the canvass, welcomed me into the community and made sure residents had the opportunity to speak with me honestly about their lives, their concerns and what they need from their city.

Brenda has consistently shown up for her neighbours. Through Senior Watch, she has helped check on vulnerable residents and has spoken publicly about safety and living conditions at First Place. That kind of care, courage and grassroots leadership deserves to be recognized.

This is why I canvass. Leadership does not begin behind a desk at City Hall. It begins in hallways, community rooms and conversations with residents who know their buildings and neighbourhoods better than anyone.

As I run for Mayor of the @CityofHamilton, I will continue meeting people where they are, listening without judgment and standing beside tenants who deserve safety, dignity and accountability.

Thank you, Brenda, and thank you to everyone at First Place who shared their time and their truth with me. I heard you. I won’t forget what you told me.
